Publishing Update

If my inbox is any indication, the whitetail rut is on around the country. Antlers appear daily.

I'm in the office between fall turkey and waterfowl hunts, writing feature articles and online posts for Outdoor Life, Turkey & Turkey Hunting, Realtree.com, Yamaha Outdoors, Foster's Sunday Citizen, and the OL "Strut Zone" blog.

My new release, Turkey Calls & Calling (Stackpole Books), appeared in August.

New York Fall Gobblers

Four men, two dogs, two gunners, and two full-fan gobblers by the end of it. Took a couple hours to call in the first turkey after the initial dog break. Took another two hours to get the second one by the feet.

Thanksgiving falls in November for a reason.

80 Days

Eighty days left in the year, four fall turkey states to hunt, several for waterfowl as well.

Writing feature assignments for Turkey & Turkey Hunting magazine, and regular online content for Outdoor Life, Realtree.com, Yamaha Outdoors, and my Foster's newspaper space (print & website). Other projects too of the freelance sort.

A full-time writer who teaches part-time with the University System of New Hampshire, I'm crafting a Granite State College online course (The Media and Its Messages), e-teaching American Literature online, and meeting American Pop Culture students f2f once a week.

Update from Maine

My latest book Turkey Calls & Calling (Stackpole Books) has been published. Look for a review by Jim Casada in a future issue of Turkey & Turkey Hunting magazine.

I'm currently working on wild turkey articles for a number of magazines and online publications, including the Outdoor Life "Strut Zone," and Realtree Turkey Site (turkey.realtree.com), as well as pieces on a variety of outdoor subjects for Yamaha Outdoors and Foster's Sunday Citizen (Dover/Laconia NH).

Hunting waterfowl, wild turkeys and upland birds in four states this fall, often with one of our English setters Radar (7) and/or Luna (1) along. Buried our old girl Jenny (13+), the setter matriarch of the family, back on August 31--we miss her.

Teaching two courses for Granite State College as well: Survey of American Lit. (online delivery), and American Popular Culture (f2f).

Watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL otherwise.

Publication Update

Just finished looking over page proofs for my forthcoming book Turkey Calls and Calling (Stackpole Books). It's due out in August 2009. 

My magazine feature articles currently appear in recent issues of Cabela's Outfitter Journal (pictured here), Turkey Call, and Turkey & Turkey Hunting.
